Social Entrepreneurs
Please feel free to comment, as I am open to suggestions.
In the UK, we work more hours than the rest of Europe, but it has really damaged wellbeing ( Dr Pete Brandon in the Times.)
As the hours of work increase, you will get ill ( Professor Cary Cooper) ... And as hours increase so has divorce and separation.
Earning a living need not make you sacrifice what is deep and meaningful. A new phenomen has occured which combines entrepreneurial solutions to that old problem of starving children. Traditionally, some old food may be distributed, or biscuits, which do not address the deficiencies and secondary problems of these children. Indeed some 80% of children will die with some rice or food in the stomach, but from malnutrition and secondary causes. Throwing money and food at the problem may unsettle a fragile local economy for the local farmers. So what can be done to help long-term?
In the NTC (Nourish The Children) alliance, entrepreneurs strive to create meaningful and humanitarian career opportunites.
15,000 children under the age of 5 will die from starvation today (UNICEF - the state of the world's children).
NTC alliance members believe that in a world rich in resources, the starvation of children is NOT a fact of life, but an injustice which must be addressed. And we are actively working to do just that.
Whilst people may lament this with words, the NTC alliance has been busy with deeds. Over the last 3 years, the NTC alliance, has provided over 21,000,000 (21 million) meals to feed malnourished children around the world. NTC has also created jobs, and suphported local farmers in poor countries. This has been accomplised by embracing the creativity of humanitarian entrepreneurs and the disciplines of business.
NTC corps of humanitarian entrepreneurs come from many different backgrounds. We share a commitment to being a 'force for good' in the world, and a desire for balance in life. We believe that every member of our alliance is entitled to the opportunity to improve their own circumstances as they work to improve the circumstances of others, and thereby feed even more children - responsibly - supporting their health, and the local farmers into the process.
